Tracy Austin – Then
Wimbledon champ, Tracy Austin, came from a family of professional tennis players so it’s no wonder that Austin eventually decided to pursue a career in this particular sport when she was older.
In 1978, Tracy, young and pig-tailed, became the youngest winner of the U.S. Open female singles championship and inductee of the International Tennis Hall of Fame, the latter a feat she achieved when she was only 29 years of age.
She was able to accomplish all of these while juggling her schooling in the mix. What an extraordinary feat from the young tennis aficionado. And the fact that she accomplished so much at such a young age is proof that she is indeed one of the most skillful tennis players to ever grace the court.
