Barbara Knox – Coronation Street – Age 87

Do you remember Rita Tanner from Coronation Street, the soap opera on ITV? Well, Barbara Knox is the one who portrayed the role perfectly. She was first selected for a cameo appearance.

However, seeing her popularity, the makers decided to turn it into a full-fledged role later on. Barbara continued to portray the character of Rita for almost five decades, and that in itself is a record. She has the distinction of being one of the world’s longest-serving current TV soap opera actresses.

She won the TV Times Award in the Best Actress category, a British Soap Award in the Best On-Screen category, and Lifetime Achievement. At 87, she must take care of her health, which we hope she is doing.
