The NBC Nightly News host substituted Brian Williams as the permanent anchor of the show. Lester Holt first rose to prominence as the moderator of the Presidential debate held in the year 2016 and received quite a fair bit of appreciation from Donald Trump, the current president of the United States. He stayed inclined towards the Republican Party until the year 2018 when he changed his political views to an independent one.

Holt’s broadcasting career kicked off way back in 1981 when he signed on with CBS.
